Dreame T10 cordless vacuum cleaner test
The Dreame T10 is the entry-level device of the Mistral brand and is less sophisticated than its big brothers, the T20 and T30. For example, this model does not have a display, unlike the other models of the brand. But does this mean that it is not just as effective? That’s what we’ll see in this article where we’ll perform a complete test of the vacuum cleaner.
Presentation of the Dreame T0
The Dreame T10 upright vacuum cleaner is the most accessible model of the Mistral series with a starting price of 250€ on the manufacturer’s website. For this reason, the manufacturer did not include the screen and the particle counters present on the T20 and T30. Thus, the priority is given to the essential on this model. The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a multi-cyclonic filtration capable of separating the air from the dust to redirect the latter to the dust collector with a capacity of 0.5 liter.
This vacuum cleaner is equipped with a Li-ion battery that is very efficient to use. According to the data sheet of the device, the autonomy of the vacuum cleaner is about 60 minutes when used at the lowest level, namely without connecting the electrobrush. In terms of design and quality of materials, the T10 gives a good impression of quality with a neat finish. The plastics are well assembled and seem to have a durable quality over time. However, we regret the lack of color choice since the original matte white can get dirty quite easily.
Finally, despite its reasonable price, the T10 is sold with several accessories. Upon unpacking, the product comes with the long nozzle and the flat brush. The box also contains a flexible hose, a suction tube and a mini electric brush. The latter is reserved exclusively for the maintenance of the sofa, armchairs and sofas. Finally, the device is also delivered with a wall-mounted base that can be fixed to the wall to store the vacuum cleaner after each use. It is this same base that ensures the recharging of the battery through the connectors.
A vacuum cleaner with a neat and practical design
The Dreame T10 upright vacuum cleaner has the stick architecture made famous by the market leader, Dyson. Thus, the motor, the waste collector as well as the filtration system are located at the level of the user’s wrist, which avoids straining the muscles and reduces physical effort. Note that the device can be used in handheld vacuum cleaner mode by detaching the tube and the suction head.
The Dreame T10 vacuum cleaner is rather light in weight. When used as a handheld vacuum cleaner, it weighs just 1.65 kilos. However, when connected to the tube and the suction head, its weight reaches 2.74 kilos. But, you don’t feel the heaviness of the device since most of the weight rests on the floor.
The orientation of the Dreame T10 is rather simple, and the upright vacuum cleaner can easily reach spaces that are difficult to reach in normal circumstances for example under furniture or corners. For this purpose, the joints of the head are rather flexible to allow the vacuum cleaner to go through smoothly.
Handling of the device
The Dreame T10 is a rather intuitive vacuum cleaner. It is very quick to learn, but it took us some time to understand the vacuum mode selector. Indeed, the button located at the back of the vacuum cleaner, at the level of the motor block, allows you to switch between the continuous suction and the fractioned suction. To activate the continuous suction, you have to press the trigger that starts the vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner will stop when the batteries run out or when the trigger is pressed again. The continuous mode is very comfortable because it avoids having to keep your wrist tight to make the vacuum cleaner work. In split mode, you will optimize the battery life because as long as you don’t pull the trigger, the unit doesn’t vacuum. This is especially handy when you want to move furniture for example.
Finally, the Dreame T10 upright vacuum cleaner also has a slider with three power levels. Unlike its big brothers, only LEDs will display the level of remaining autonomy against a screen display for other models in the range. We deplore the lack of precision, especially when you want to tackle a large enough room and the autonomy is not sufficient.
A vacuum cleaner with the most interesting price/performance ratio
After our test run, the T10 turns out to be a good vacuum cleaner without shining through its functions. Thanks to the V-shaped brush, the suction quality is satisfactory. However, the turbo mode is necessary for difficult surfaces, such as shag carpet. On a standard carpet, the results are very good and fast with almost 100% efficiency. For a standard carpet of 2 meters by 1 meter, it will take 1 minute to vacuum all the detritus on the surface. This puts it at the top of the scale although some competitors are able to do much better with 100% efficiency in a shorter time.
The noise emitted by the Dreame T10 upright vacuum cleaner is rather contained with 68 dB. In turbo mode, it rises to 73 Db, which is largely bearable. The multi-cyclonic filtration of the T10 does its job well and is quite effective. The filters will have a long life. Cleaning them is very simple, since you just have to dismantle the waste container containing the filtration system and then proceed with the cleaning. The same goes for the brush, which can be easily detached to clean it and remove hair, for example.
In terms of maintenance, emptying the filter will be done without any particular problem. To do this, simply press the button on the device so that the hinged bottom opens and the waste falls out. Be sure to stand in front of a trash can, however, because the dust is evacuated immediately after the button is pressed. Therefore, it is not necessary to disassemble the filtration system as on some devices.
In use, the power of the upright vacuum cleaner does not decrease, even when the battery starts to run out which is highly appreciable for regular use. In normal power mode, the Dreame T10 lasts less than 30 minutes, against 1 hour announced by the manufacturer. In turbo mode, the autonomy of the device is really disappointing with less than 10 minutes. This is all the more frustrating as the device recharges fully in 3 hours, when the battery is empty.
Sold at 250€ from the manufacturer, it is nevertheless very easy to find it at less than 200€ on some famous marketplaces. In terms of performance, it is one of the most interesting vacuum cleaners in terms of price/performance. Efficient on different surfaces, and in the corners, the vacuum cleaner acts efficiently and quickly. Moreover, its system is very well designed since it does not release any dust, all in a very practical device thanks to a well accomplished design. On the other hand, we regret very strongly the autonomy of the battery which is quite simply insufficient at this level.
