Somfy Io smoke detector for TaHoma

The smoke detector alerts in case of fire in the house. It can be used as a stand-alone device and integrated into the TaHoma universe.

Battery insertion

Install the 9V and 3V batteries in their respective locations. The connected smoke detector cannot operate without batteries. You must therefore insert the batteries in the correct direction (“+” pole on the “+” side and “-” pole on the “-” side):

  • The 9V battery (DURACELL MN1604, EVEREADY 522, GP1604A) powers the smoke detection and warning system.
  • The 3V battery (DURACELL ULTRA123, ENERGIZER 123) powers the system for interconnectability between detectors and operation with TaHoma.

Product Testing

Test the connected smoke detector by pressing the test button on the hood. If all parts of the product are in good working order, a “BEEP” will sound. If no “BEEP” is heard, the unit has a defective battery or other fault.

Where to install the connected smoke detector

  • On each floor.
  • In rooms that are often used and too far away to be able to hear a sound signal (Thanks to the interconnection, if you have Several smoke detectors connected, the alert spreads throughout the house without any prior adjustment).
  • Outside unused rooms, such as the boiler room.

Where not to install the connected smoke detector

  • Outdoors
  • In a place where the alarm would be difficult to hear (room with closed door)
  • In a place where the detector would be difficult to reach, especially to perform the tests
  • In a place where the temperature is less than 4°C or more than 45° C
  • In a place where humidity is less than 10% or more than 95% (bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, etc.).
  • In a place subject to large and/or rapid variations in temperature, pressure or humidity.
  • In a place where the sun shines directly on the detector
  • In a dusty or dirty place (garage, workshop, etc.)
  • In a place infested with insects
  • In a place where stray smoke could disturb the smoke detector: kitchen, chimney, garages (exhaust), stoves, boilers, combustion radiators, etc.
  • Close to heaters, windows, vents, air conditioners, fans or any other equipment that can generate air flows.
  • Close to an area that is warmer or colder than the rest of the room (uninsulated walls, hatches, etc.).
